SHAKY HANDS PRESS
Shaky Hands Press is the creative studio of Ryan Harrison, specializing in hand made printed ephemera of all kinds. Shaky Hands Press is based in Oakland, CA.
The name Shaky Hands Press comes from the tradition of hand made prints, and the history of the hand of the maker being expressed in the image. The beauty of a hand made object is in its imperfections, the unique attributes that makes it a one of a kind. Ryan Harrison works with traditional materials and techniques, to create fine art prints, posters, books and zines, all by hand.
Ryan Harrison graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2017 with a BFA in Printmaking. He received the Outstanding Printmaking Student Award, as well as the Bronze Roller Award. Harrison has assisted at New Grounds Print Workshop, Mullowney Printing, and the Tamarind Institute. He has been a resident at the Kala Institute, and a studio member at Max’s Garage Press, both in Berkeley. Ryan Harrison is white, and recognizes the privileges that have been afforded to him on account of his race.
Ryan Harrison is currently working for textile designer Anne Kirk, running the day to day printing for Cloth Edition and Anne Kirk Textiles. Ryan Harrison also works for Oakland based artist Sandy walker, as his printer and studio assistant.
