Final Project at the San Francisco Art Institute
SHAKY HANDS PRESS
Shaky Hands Press is a small printmaking studio in Oakland, California. Currently run by Ryan Harrison as his own artistic practice, Shaky Hands Press is a publishing house for fine art prints.
Shaky Hands Press derives its name from the tradition of hand made prints, and the history of the hand of the maker being expressed in the image. During the Medieval times, engraving was the primary form of image production. The engravers hand would shake, causing the image to directly express the hand of the maker. Shaky Hands Press works with traditional materials and techniques, to create contemporary fine art prints.
Ryan Harrison graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2017 with a BFA in Printmaking. He received the Outstanding Printmaking Student Award, as well as the Bronze Roller Award. Ryan Harrison has assisted at New Grounds Print Workshop, Mullowney Printing, and the Tamarind Institute.
Ryan Harrison is currently working for Oakland based artist Sandy Walker as his printer and assistant, as well working as a printer with Anne Kirk Textiles.
Shaky Hands Press specializes in traditional Relief and Screen printing, offering commissioned pieces, one on one teaching, and small run publishing. If you are interested in working with Shaky Hands Press, please send me a message below.
